Harvest Sensations Debuts World-Class Facility

New LA Center Expands Processing, Cold Storage Capabilities

Production is now underway at a new processing and distribution center built by Harvest Sensations, one of America’s top specialty produce suppliers to retail and foodservice operations nationwide. The state‐of‐the‐art, 47,000‐square‐foot facility is located in the Washington Food Center, near the Produce Terminal Market in downtown Los Angeles.

The new building is designed and equipped with multiple eco‐friendly, LEED‐ inspired components, from low‐energy lighting, refrigeration equipment and water‐saving fixtures to industry leading systems for waste containment and recycling.

Chris Coffman, Harvest Sensations’ President, says, “We needed the new facility for our continued growth of the business. We had outgrown our old building. Now, we have additional cold storage capacity and are expanding our processing services.”

While incorporating green‐build best practices was a priority for Harvest Sensations, so, too, was ensuring the highest levels of food safety and quality. The structure features a fully refrigerated dock with warehouse and processing areas which have multiple temperature and humidity zones to maintain the quality and shelf‐life of the produce. Processing employees enter the processing area through a s sterilization corridor.

“We aimed for a world‐class, food‐safe facility that would maximize product quality and facilitate our ability to provide customer service that is inspiring”.  We have achieved our goal with this asset,” Coffman says.
