PRO*ACT Foundation Supports Haitian Relief Efforts

PRO*ACT, America’s leading distributor of fresh produce to the foodservice industry, has so far donated in excess of $25,000 through the PRO*ACT Foundation to organizations assisting Haitian earthquake victims. The Foundation, established by PRO*ACT as a way for employees, distributor members, customers and suppliers to come together and provide assistance following Hurricane Katrina, is collecting and donating funds to the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and the Catholic Medical Mission Board for aid work in Haiti.

“When natural disasters of this magnitude strike, there’s a real feeling of hopelessness accompanied by a real desire to help,” said Steve Grinstead, president and CEO of PRO*ACT. “The PRO*ACT Foundation was created as a way for members of the PRO*ACT supply chain to provide hope and help by supporting aid organizations on the ground – first on the Gulf Coast and now in Haiti.”

Grinstead adds that while coverage of the devastation in Haiti has begun to subside, the need for aid there hasn’t. The PRO*ACT Foundation, continues to seek and distribute donations to provide relief. “We’re grateful to those who have donated already, and gratified that donations continue to come in even as the media shifts its attention to other things,” he said.

Suppliers, distributors, customers and others in the industry wishing to support the PRO*ACT Foundation’s ongoing Haitian earthquake relief efforts should contact Director of Marketing Mary Wright-Rana, mwrightrana@proactusa.com, (831) 658-1961 for information on how to donate.
