PRO*ACT Announces Greener Fields Together Supporting Farm Aid 2013

Greener Fields Together™, the sustainability and local produce initiative created by the PRO*ACT produce supply-chain management company, is taking its commitment to strengthen local farms and deliver more sustainably raised fresh produce to Farm Aid 2013, Saturday, Sept. 21, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. As sponsor of the event’s HOMEGROWN Village and the HOMEGROWN concession program, Greener Fields Together joins with hosts and musicians Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, along with more than a dozen other recording artists, to raise awareness and funds for America’s family-owned farms and help grow the “Good Food Movement.”

Located on the back lawn of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, HOMEGROWN Village features more than 50 local, regional and national farm groups offering entertaining and educational exhibits. Within the Village, the HOMEGROWN Stage features live music as well as artist and farmer interviews; the HOMEGROWN Skills Tent provides a range of local agrarian and homesteading skills presentations; and dozens of additional Village exhibitors invite concert goers to engage in all kinds of educational hands-on food and farm activities to help them learn about how to protect the land and water, grow the economy, and support the Good Food Movement.

“We’re excited to sponsor and participate in Farm Aid, whose mission of supporting family farms and strengthening local agricultural sustainability we wholeheartedly share,” says Max Yeater, president of PRO*ACT, which launched Greener Fields Together in October of 2012 as an industry-wide, field-to-fork produce sustainability initiative. “Since 1985, this terrific event has celebrated through music, education and advocacy the importance of America’s family-farm infrastructure and locally produced food. It’s a stage we’re proud to share and we invite everyone to stop by the HOMEGROWN Village and take in all it has to offer.”
